September 11-13, 2026
LMTA (more precise location information coming soon)

We invite you to participate in an exclusive three-day seminar dedicated to the physical and psycho-emotional well-being of musicians and the understanding of stage stress, which will take place on September 11–13, 2026 at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre (LMTA).

Participation in the seminar is free, making it a unique opportunity to work individually with world-class specialists and an interdisciplinary team.

The greatest value of the seminar is the opportunity to work with the founder of the Timani Method, Timani specialist and physiotherapist Tina Margareta Nilsen. She teaches and conducts master classes internationally, collaborating with institutions such as The Juilliard School, Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien, Universität der Künste Berlin, Norwegian Academy of Music and other prestigious music academies. She also works with professional orchestras and world-class performers, including Leif Ove Andsnes, musicians from the Berlin Philharmonic, the Norwegian National Opera and Ballet, the Norwegian Chamber Orchestra, the Barratt Due Musikkinstitutt and other international performers. During this seminar, she will help you better understand the biomechanics of the body, more effective movement control, and their influence on musical performance.

Each day of the seminar will be dedicated to one somatic method – the Timani Method (www.timani.no), Jacobson’s Progressive Muscle Relaxation (https://www.healthline.com/health/what-is-jacobson-relaxation-technique), or Body Mapping (https://www.bodymap.org).

The goal of this workshop is to create a safe, supportive, and open environment free of judgment, expectations, or additional stress, where participants can try out various body awareness techniques, better understand their reactions to stage stress, and discover the most individually appropriate performance preparation strategies.

Concert format

Each day, participants will perform two different pieces. Each piece should be 2-5 minutes long and performed without piano accompaniment.

The purpose of these concerts is not to demonstrate technical mastery or stage preparation. They are an integral part of scientific research, allowing for a practical assessment of the impact of the somatic methods presented during the seminar on the music-making process and psycho-emotional well-being.

Concert progress

  • Two pieces are performed each day (not one after the other).
  • Before one performance, the participant performs one of the applied somatic methods, and before the next one, he does not perform any method.
  • Before and after each performance, the participant completes a short self-reflection questionnaire.
  • Pre-agreed stress indicators are noted during the performance.
  • Heart rate is recorded using a Polar heart rate belt throughout the performance.
  • The same procedure is repeated for all three days of the seminar.

Before the seminar, all participants will receive detailed instructions, and during the event, an assistant will be there to help with all procedures and answer any questions.

What will participants take away?

After the seminar, each participant:

  • will become familiar with three scientifically based somatic methods;
  • will receive individual specialist consultations;
  • will better understand body’s reactions to stage stress;
  • will be able to assess their heart rate and stress levels during performance;
  • will acquire practical tools that help improve physical and psycho-emotional well-being while making music and preparing for public performances.

During the seminar and the entire study, photographs and videos may be taken. Video and photographic material will be used for the purposes of documenting the scientific study, and may also be used for project publicity, presentations, conferences and other project-related communication, in accordance with applicable personal data protection and research ethics requirements. Before the start of the study, all participants will sign an informed consent form, which will provide detailed information about the course of the study, data processing, filming, photography and the conditions of their use.
