The twenty-sixth volume aims to broaden prevailing paradigms of music research by moving beyond national borders and focusing on geographically and culturally diverse micro-, meso-, and macro-regions in music history. This approach challenges nationalist perspectives that interpret music history primarily through present-day state boundaries and ethnocentric viewpoints, encouraging closer examination of how musical phenomena are situated within cultural networks and how genres and practices circulate across regions — from local contexts to global frameworks.
