In an interview published by the Lithuanian Council for Culture, PARC researcher, actor and performing arts creator Dominykas Vaitiekūnas tells Monika Augustaitytė about working with the deaf community, inclusion projects and the possibilities of performing arts to create dialogue between hearing and deaf people. The interview discusses the project “Interlingual Collaboration: Deaf People Teach Hearing People”, the significance of the creative process, community art, the artist’s responsibility and the search for stage expression for a mixed audience. The challenges of deaf-hearing collaboration, cultural tensions and the role of theatre in creating more inclusive artistic practices are also reflected on.
