Lecture \u201cBody without Organs as a Perspective of Interdisciplinarity\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n\n

The concept of the \u201cbody without organs\u201d in the context of this lecture is borrowed from the work of Antonin Artaud. In his work \u201cThe Tarahumaras,\u201d he writes that \u201cconsciousness knows what is good for it and what has no value for it; therefore it recognizes the thoughts and feelings it can accept without danger and with benefit, and those that harm the functioning of its freedom. First of all, it knows how far its being extends and how far it has not yet gone \u2013 or has no right to go \u2013 without risking entering an unprepared surreality, illusion\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n\n

Based on this statement, interdisciplinarity will be examined during the meeting\u2013lecture from a poetic perspective. Pierre Jodlowski will present the field of his creative work, in which the \u201cbody without organs\u201d functions as a principle articulating different media. The lecture will discuss in more detail the conceptual and technical processes the composer applies in developing his projects. <\/p>\n\n

ABOUT THE LECTURER<\/strong> | www.pierrejodlowski.com<\/a>Pierre Jodlowski is a French mixed music composer and multimedia artist whose work transcends the usual boundaries of music and encompasses the fields of contemporary music, dance, circus, theater, visual arts, electronic music, film, and interactive installations. Pierre Jodlowski describes his work as an \u201cactive process\u201d both on a physical level (musical gestures, action not only with sounds in time but also with the body in space) and on a psychological level (analyzed relationships with memory, sound visualization, the body, and media). Since 1998, the artist has been one of the artistic directors of \u201c\u00e9Ole\u201d (a research and production studio based in Toulouse), and since 2019 \u2013 the artistic director of the \u201cMusica Electronica Nova\u201d festival, organized by the National Forum of Music in Wroc\u0142aw (Poland). He is currently an associated composer of the IRCAM composition course. <\/p>\n\n

As French composer Nathana\u00ebl Berg\u00e8se states, \u201cJodlowski\u2019s ideas are based on the creation of a performative vocabulary in the service of narrative.\u201d Pierre Jodlowski\u2019s work encompasses the performer\u2019s body in space (\u201cMad Max\u201d), musical performance (\u201cRespire\u201d), theatrical masks (\u201cDiary Random and Pickles\u201d), a unique system of physical gestures (\u201cTime\u2019n\u2019Money\u201d), and explores the relationship between physicality and media (\u201cGhostland, Territory of Shadows\u201d). Constantly expanding both the spectator-listener experience and the boundaries of the performers\u2019 activities, he uses modern technologies, precise work with performers, and media art to create polyphonic and structurally multilayered audiovisual compositions and intermedial works, performed live by professionals from different fields: actors, musicians, cinematographers, lighting operators, dancers, and others. In 2002, the artist won the Claude Arrieu SACEM Prize, and in 2012, \u2013 Herv\u00e9 Dugardin SACEM Prize, and in 2003 and 2004 he was a resident at the Berlin Academy of Arts. In 2013 he won the \u201cAcademie Charles Cros\u201d award for one of his CDs. In 2015 he was awarded the Grand Prix de la Lyc\u00e9e in France for his work \u201cTime & Money\u201d. From 2017 to 2019 he was an artist in residence at the Th\u00e9\u00e2tre National \u201cLux\u201d in Valence (France). <\/p>\n\n
